- PCPI Applicard User's Group
-
- You never heard of one? Well that's because that isn't one!
- I named this file PCPI/UG to catch your eye, not to try to start
- a formal UG. However, the UG concept does offer some real
- advantages.
- As a long-time GEnie subscriber and general Modem addict, I
- can say that the CP/M Roundtable of GEnie has the largest
- collection of Applicard files I have ever seen on one system. Of
- course this may be largely the result of my being the Apple
- assistant sysop on the CP/M RT but the result is the same! With
- at least 20 Applicard users already subscribers, new files and
- BBS information are added daily. Recently Steve Hirsch, well
- known for his PCPI/ZCPR3 contributions, joined the fold. The
- first Canadian CP/M RT member, Gordon Marwood, is a Applicard
- owner.
- Already the HUG, Heath User's Group, has a ongoing dialogue
- on the BBS. There is a separate section for Apple CP/M files and
- bulletins. Of the over 100M of files in the RT, one Megabyte, or
- about 100 files are Apple CP/M and about one-third of these are
- Applicard files.
- So why not join us and be sure of getting the latest in
- Applicard files. The rates are very reasonable and with just one
- call to GEnie you'll be up to date in the Applicard world. No
- more calling around the country even at low packet-network rates
- to stay abreast of the latest. The table below outline GEnie's
- rates and give a step-by-step procedure for signing up.
-
-
- Jim Lill GEnie: [JIMLILL]
-
- GEnie rates: Signup: $18.00
- Monthly rate or minimum: NONE
- 300/1200 hourly rate $ 5.00
- 2400 surcharge $15.00
-
- GEnie signup procedure:
-
- If you are using a //e, use 300 baud to signup so that character
- loss during scroll isn't a problem (unless you're using MXH-
- AP55). Once on GEnie as a susbscriber you can solve this by
- telling GEnie you're a TermiNet300 in which case GEnie will pad
- the start of each line and you can run 1200 with no problem.
-
- Set your communications for Local echo. If you're using MEX this
- is easily done by using DIAL rather then CALL and adding L to the
- command line, e.g.: [MEX] A>>DIAL 5551212;L<cr>
-
- Call 1-800-638-8369
-
- When connected enter HHH
-
- At the U#= prompt enter: VJM11999,GEnie <cr>
-
- Then just follow the instructions.
