  5. Welcome to Fractal Design Expression - The Revolutionary Natural-Media(TM)
  6. Vector Drawing Tool.  Please be sure to read this document for important

  30. DOCUMENTATION ERRATA

  32. After the documentation was sent to print several additions were made to 
  33. the application.
  34.  
  35. If the cursor is over a stroke and you click on the right mouse button,
  36. a context sensitive menu appears which includes option to edit the stroke
  37. definition or reverse its path.
  38.  
  39. Two new menu items were added to the Stroke menu. 
  40.  
  41. Reset Stroke Shear sets the shear angle to any selected stroke or strokes
  42. back to 0 degrees.
  43.  
  44. Reverse Ribbon Folds works on any selected stroke or strokes drawn in Ribbon 
  45. mode. If a ribbon stroke overlaps itself, selecting the Reverse Ribbon Folds 
  46. command will change the drawing order of how the stroke overlaps.

  48. MANAGING YOUR STROKES
  49.  
  50. Expression lets you load hundreds of strokes into your Stroke Warehouse. 
  51. Depending on the number and complexity of those strokes, and your system 
  52. configuration, this may result in slower performance within the application. 
  53. To maintain high-levels of performance, you may want to limit the number 
  54. and complexity of strokes that are loaded at one time.

  56. MANAGING PATTERNS
  57.  
  58. Expression uses a system pattern file to automatically load various patterns 
  59. into the pattern list in the Paint Style dialog and Hatching... dialog. To 
  60. conserve RAM not all patterns included with Expression are loaded into the 
  61. pattern file. There are several Expression files in the PATTERNS folder that 
  62. contain dozens of patterns. To use any of the patterns in these files, simply 
  63. open them and Expression will automatically add them into your pattern list. 
  64. When you close the pattern file they will be removed from the pattern list, but 
  65. any documents you've created with those patterns will continue to store them.

  67. PRINTING
  68.  
  69. There may be some cases where Expression will have difficulty printing a file 
  70. to a PostScript printer. This might occur if you use transparent strokes or 
  71. if you've created a very complex file. If this occurs you may want to choose 
  72. the "Rasterize Before Printing" checkbox in the Print dialog and select the 
  73. appropriate dpi setting for your printer.

  75. CORELDRAW EXPORT
  76.  
  77. This version of Expression does not support CMX (Corel exchange format)export.
  78. To move an Expression file to CorelDraw, first save it as an Adobe Illustrator 
  79. file, which can be imported by CorelDraw. CMX support will be available in an 
  80. upcoming version. This will be made available as an online updater as soon as 
  81. it becomes available. Be sure to check our website at www.fractal.com or

  85. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  87. Expression is designed specifically to run on Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51 and 
  88. Windows NT 4.0.  You can install Expression on a Windows 3.1 based PC, but 
  89. performance may suffer.
  90. Expression for Windows requires a 486, Pentium or Pentium Pro PC with a minimum
  91. of 16MB of RAM, and  a CD-ROM player.
