  9. This is the READ.ME file for the (unregistered) version of Telix 3.20
  10. posted for BBS distribution. Telix 3.20 as posted for BBS distribution
  11. consists of the following four ZIP archives:

  13.         TLX320-1.ZIP    Executable and support files.
  14.  
  15.         TLX320-2.ZIP    MODEMCFG.EXE (modem configuration program),
  16.                         CS.EXE and CSS.EXE (script compilers), QDHost
  17.                         Mode script source files, and dialing directory
  18.                         conversion program. Also TELIX320.NEW,
  19.                         describing new features in v3.20.

  21.         TLX320-3.ZIP    Host+ Bulletin Board for Telix (formerly Host 5.0)

  23.         TLX320-4.ZIP    SALT.DOC, the SALT script language ref. manual.

  29. number. If you use PKZIP 1.10 or later to extract from thse archives,
  30. PKZIP should display the symbol -AV beside each filename, and should
  31. finish with the following message:

  35. Note that while the Telix documentation has been re-formatted and
  36. cleaned up to some extent, the contents have not changed significantly
  37. since v3.10. All additions are described in TELIX320.NEW, so if you
  38. printed out the manual(s) for v3.10 to 3.15 you do not have to do so
  39. again for this release (other than the HostPlus.DOC and SIMPLE.DOC, new
  40. to version 3.20).

  134. The file TELIX320.NEW describes new features in this version of Telix.
  135.  
  136. To start off you should make a copy of all the files, for safe-keeping.
  137. Hard disk users should create a TELIX directory and copy all the files
  138. into it. Floppy disk (360k) users should put the contenets of the first
  139. archive onto one disk, and optionally put the script compiler (CS.EXE)
  140. from the second archive onto that disk as well. That might leave things
  141. a bit cramped though. If there is a space problem, keep in mind that
  142. script source files (*.SLT) and the script compiler do not have to stay
  143. on your main Telix disk.  With these files on another disk, there should
  144. be plenty of space.

  146. The best way to continue is by printing out the documentation which can
  147. be done by using the DOS copy command (at the DOS prompt) to copy the
  148. file(s) to the printer, as follows:
  149.  
  150.      copy TELIX.DOC prn
  151.      copy SALT.DOC prn
  152.      copy SIMPLE.DOC prn
  153.      copy HOSTPLUS.DOC prn
  154.  
  155. Once the manual has finished printing, see the section called 'Getting 
  156. Started'.

  160. The Telix documentation is formatted to use 66 lines/page, as supported
  161. by most printers. Many laser printers print only 60 lines/page by
  162. default. Running the LASER66.COM program included will set up an HP
  163. Laserjet or compatible laser printer to print 66 lines/page, and will
  164. also allow it to print IBM lindrawing characters, which are used in the
  165. documentation.
