  29.     ProComm, Copyright  1987-89  by Datastorm Technolgies, Inc.   is  a  popular 
  30. shareware  terminal  program.   Included with this package is a new script  file 
  31. which will automatically return to FAXCTRL after any number of seconds you wish, 
  32. if FAXCTRL is triggered accidentally.

  37.     We  do not intend to give a tutorial on how to use,  setup,  or operate  the 
  38. HOST mode under ProComm. We believe that the author(s) did that very well in the 
  39. instructions provided with ProComm.  Therefore,  we will only demonstrate how to 
  40. interface FAXCTRL with ProComm's HOST mode.

  46.                                     The Steps

  48.     (1)·Edit the file FAXHOST.BAT so that the line:
  49. : PCPLUS /FFAXHOST
  50.         is active. That is, remove the leading ": "
  51. PCPLUS /FFAXHOST

  53.     (2)·Make sure that the script file provided,  FAXHOST.ASP,  is where ProComm 
  54. can find it.  The best place is usually in the directory with your other script, 
  55. .ASP, files.

  57.     (3)·Optionally, you can adjust the number, 1250, in the FAXHOST.ASP file, to 
  58. accomodate  a  waiting period as long or as short as you want.  The  formula  is 
  59. approximately 42 times the number of seconds you want the wait to be 
  60.  
  61.     (4)·Follow the FAXCTRL documentation to login to your host system.

  63.     (5)·When you're ready to logoff, use the [A]bort Command NOT the [G]oodbye

  70.     You can still use the old FAXHOST.ASP file if you don't feel the need of the 
  71. automatic return to FAXCTRL. The old FAXHOST.ASP file looked like this:      ~03

  76.                           Notes on the new script file
  77. ~02
  78.     The  new script file with the automatic return to FAXCTRL might startle  you 
  79. the  first  time  you use it.  You'll notice that the HOST mode  isn't  actually 
  80. invoked  until  carrier  is detected,  in other words after you  call  back  and 
  81. ProComm sees you connect it invokes the HOST mode.  The peculiar feature is that 
  82. when  the host mode does being the host computer will beep and ask "Hangup  Line 
  83. [Y/N]?". Two additional beeps will sound attempting to get an operator response. 
  84. However  there is no need for an operator response because the default is NOT to 
  85. hangup  the  line and enter the host mode.  We suggest that at call  back,   you 
  86. simply  wait  for the HOST message,  and the prompt "First Name"  before  typing 
  87. anything. There will be a slight delay while the host computer beeps and waits.
