Transcription: Thirty-two chicken eggs were placed on board this mission to determine the effects of weightlessness on the developing embryos. Sixteen eggs had been fertilized two days prior to launch, while the other sixteen were fertilized nine days prior to launch. Upon return to Earth, it was discovered that the two-day-old embryos had died. However, all of the nine-day-old embryos lived and hatched. Though the results of the experiment were not considered to be conclusive, they did spark further research into the possibility of biological differences in the surviving chickens.
