Transcription: The Long Duration Exposure Facility, or LDIF, was a space time capsule designed to float in the cosmos for one year. Released on the second day of the mission, LDIF contained 57 experiments designed to research an array of disciplines from astrophysics to medicine. Universities, private companies, laboratories and research centers participated.
