Transcription: OSAT-1 began its seven-year orbit when it was deployed in 1985. Its mission was to provide Australia and its offshore islands with a wide range of satellite services. Employing solar energy for its power source, the satellite vastly improved Australia's television, telecommunications and air traffic control industries. OSAT successors, OSAT-2 and OSAT-3 were deployed during later shuttle missions.
