  8. INTRODUCTION

  10. WindX is a very simple 2.0-only commodity, which does this:  It
  11. activates the last window that was activated on each screen as it
  12. is popped to the front via Amiga-M.
  13.  
  14. Normally when you hit Amiga-M, the frontmost screen is sent off behind
  15. the other screens, revealing the next screen in the list - but Intuition
  16. doesn't change the active window when you do this.
  17.  
  18. So, if you hit Amiga-M to bring your editor to the front, the last program
  19. you were typing into is still active.  
  20.  
  21. With WindX loaded, it will activate the editor window, in this case, as
  22. soon as you hit the keystroke - providing it was the last active window
  23. on that screen.

  27. HOW IT WORKS
  28.  
  29. WindX requires the commodities.library be available for it to work - this
  30. is part of the Workbench 2.04 distribution, so unless you have gone out of
  31. your way to remove it, you have it installed already.

  33. WindX installs a commodities hotkey for "lcommand m" and "repeat lcommand m",
  34. which triggers the WindX code.  WindX then records which window is currently
  35. active and what screen it's on, and brings the new screen to the front.  
  36. Then the last window on that screen is activated.  If there hasn't been a
  37. window on that screen active since WindX was started, then the frontmost 
  38. window on that screen is activated.

  40. WindX can be removed by using the Commodities Exchange program to send it
  41. a KILL command.

  43. INSTALLATION

  45. Installing WindX couldn't be any easier - simply drag the WindX icon into
  46. the WBStartup drawer of your system partition or boot disk, and then
  47. double-click on it.  This will start it up immediately, and it's presence
  48. in the WBStartup drawer will mean that it gets started every time you 
  49. reboot your computer.
