  1. IdioMagic Software. (Demo Release 2.2)
  2.  
  3. The purpose of the IdioMagic software comes in 2 folds: 1) to teach idioms 2)
  4. to provide users (including native speakers of English) with a handy idiom
  5. reference.  The reference is a "smart" feature of IdioMagic.  The DICTIONARY
  6. allows an easy way of looking up an idiom.  The THESAURUS will find idioms for
  7. you, which match with a particular meaning, idea or situation.
  8.  
  9. What's NEW?  Version 2.2 has PROGRESS CHART that shows how well you are doing
  10. on each idiom, and you can directly review a particular idiom while you are on 
  11. the Progress Chart screen.  Quizzes and exercises will try to include idioms
  12. that you answered incorrectly during previous quizzes and exercises, more so
  13. than those you have answered correctly.  Also, incompatibility with some old
  14. monochrome videos is now fixed.

  16. The file IDIOM.ZIP should include the following files:

  23. When you use IdioMagic for the first time, the program creates 2 small files: 
  24. IDIOMD.SCO (score) and IDIOMD.SYS (system information)
  25.  
  26. All of the files above should be copied to the same directory either to a hard
  27. disk or a floppy disk.  If you have a hard disk, copy the files to it, but
  28. first make a sub-directory by typing:
  29. <COMMANDS>                       <Explanations>
  30. c: (Enter)                       log on to C drive
  31. cd \ (Enter)                     go to root directory
  32. md idiom (Enter)                 make IDIOM sub-directory
  33. cd idiom (Enter)                 go to IDIOM sub-directory
  34.  
  35. Now you can copy the floppy disk that contains IdioMagic files 
  36. to the hard disk in IDIOM sub-directory by typing:
  37. copy a:*.* c: (Enter)            copies files from drive A
  38.  
  39. If you are copying from the drive B, type:
  40. copy b:*.* c: (Enter)
  41.  
  42. (Of course the above copy was meant for the files that were "unzipped"
  43. onto a floppy disk)

  45. When you want to start the program, log on to the disk/directory
  46. that contains the files:
  47. a: (Enter)                       or
  48. b: (Enter)                       for a floppy disk operations or
  49.  
  50.                   or
  51.  
  52. c: (Enter)                       for a hard disk
  53. cd \idiom (Enter) 
  54.  
  55. Then type:
  56. idiom (Enter)                    starts IdioMagic
