  4. This document contains information about installing and using the McSpotlight CD.

  17. I.    Installing Netscape

  19. The CD contains Netscape 3.0 for Win95/WinNt and Windows 3.1/WFWG.

  21. Win95/WinNT
  22.  
  23. Netscape can be installed from the CD by inserting it into your CD-ROM drive and using the 
  24. Start menu, run option, type in the letter of your CD-ROM drive and the following path.

  26.     D:\BROWSER\N32E304.EXE
  27.  
  28. In this example, the CD-ROM drive letter is D:  This will start the Netscape installation 
  29. procedure which is self explanatory.

  31. Windows 3.1/WFWG

  33. Netscape can be installed from the CD by inserting it into your CD-ROM drive and using the 
  34. Start menu, run option, type in the letter of your CD-ROM drive and the following path.

  42. II.    Installing Search Options
  43.  
  44. There are two options for searching the CD.    Please note that searching can only be done 
  45. using Win95/NT versions of Netscape.
  46.  
  47. The McSpotlight search page offers a single word search using Java.  This may be used 
  48. without any further installation.  If you wish to have more complex searching, Personal
  49. Altavista is included on this CD and may be installed by using the following command using 
  50. your CD-ROM drive letter:

  52. D:\AVSMC253C.EXE
  53.  
  54. and following the instructions.  Choose to index your McSpotlight CD and then use the 
  55. AltaVista Personal search to search the CD.

  58. III.    Browsing the CD
  59.  
  60. It is important to start the CD-ROM as follows:
  61.  
  62. Insert the CD in your CD-ROM drive.
  63.  
  64. * With Netscape 4:
  65.      Open Netscape, choose File from the Menubar, select Open Page and click Choose File to browse your CD-ROM.
  66.      Select the file INDEX.HTM in the root directory of the CD-ROM Drive (usually D:) and click Open.
  67.      This will start the McSpotlight CD-ROM.

  69. * With Netscape 3:
  70.      Open Netscape, choose File from the Menubar, select Open File. Select the file INDEX.HTM in the root 
  71.      directory of the CD-ROM Drive (usually D:) and click Open. This will start the McSpotlight CD-ROM.

  73. If you don't start the CD-ROM this way, links and images will not work.
