Java is a new object-oriented programming language developed at Sun Microsystems that takes the World Wide Web a step further. Java creates near instantaneous animation and sound effects which require NO wait time to download files. Instead, Java uses "applets," miniature applications which temporarily operate on a use's hard drive.
