  1. This is a binary release of the GIMP v0.54 compiled for Linux ELF.
  2. The Motif library is statically linked, but the rest of the libraries
  3. are dynamically linked. This cuts down dramatically on the executable
  4. size and shouldn't cause many problems as most linux systems have
  5. the same file system structure.

  7. The gimp will search in the diretory "/usr/local/lib/gimp" for both a
  8. ".gimprc" file and a "gimprc" file. You can place a standard gimprc
  9. file in that location and any user will be able to use the gimp
  10. without having to have a gimprc file in their home directory.

  12. The "gimp" executable was compiled by Steve Dunham
  13. <dunham@cl-next4.cl.msu.edu> and the plug-ins were compiled by David
  14. Walker <dwalker@eskimo.com>.
