  67.                              USER SUPPORTED SOFTWARE

  70.         The  user  supported software  concept  (usually referred  to  as
  71.         SHAREWARE)  is an attempt to provide software at low  cost.   The
  72.         cost  of  offering a  new  product  by  conventional   means   is
  73.         staggering,  and  hence dissuades many independent  authors   and
  74.         small  companies  from developing  and  promoting   their  ideas.
  75.         User  supported  software  is  an  attempt  to  develop   a   new
  76.         marketing  channel,  where products can be  introduced   at   low
  77.         cost.

  79.         If user supported software works, then everyone will benefit. The
  80.         user  will benefit by receiving quality  products  at  low  cost,
  81.         and  by being able to "test drive"  software   thoroughly  before
  82.         purchasing it.  The author benefits by  being able  to enter  the
  83.         commercial software  arena  without  first  needing large sources
  84.         of venture capital.

  86.         But  it can only work  with  your  support. If you find that  you
  87.         are   still  using  Q&A Study Aid after a couple of  weeks,  then
  88.         obviously   it   is   worth  something to  you,  and  you  should
  89.         register.
