  5.   Release notes for Version  6.12 - 7/2/88

  8.   The MailBox Directory path (\BBS) is now hardwired.
  9.   If you previously used some other directory,
  10.   copy everything over to \BBS before bringing up this version.
  11.  
  12.   Thank you all for testing the previous versions, and thank you
  13.   in advance for testing this version as well. The changes in commands,
  14.   and any bug fixes, are noted in CHANGES.MB. Any change in the user
  15.   and mail file formats are handled automatically.
  16.   As usual, there are changes in CONFIG.MB.
  17.  
  18.   Run LM to reset the lock manager if a task crashes.
  19.   DO NOT run LM if any tasks are running, exit all tasks first.
  20.  
  21.   The software is ready for general distribution. I would like to
  22.   keep track of exactly who has which verison. Please let me know
  23.   if you give it to any station not on this list.

  68.   System requirements: IBM XT/AT or clone. It is possible to
  69.   run the code without a hard disk, but NOT recommended.
  70.  
  71.   The number of ports, port speed, and number of tasks that
  72.   can be run depend on the speed of the system. Assuming 1200
  73.   baud radio data rate and 9600 baud tnc to computer data rate
  74.   the following guidlines apply. With a "standard" 6 Mhz. AT,
  75.   four or five ports with four to six tasks can be run.
  76.   With a "standard" 4.77 Mhz XT, two ports and two or three
  77.   tasks will work. With a fast 386, at least six ports with
  78.   seven tasks are ok. I have tested a 6 Mhz AT with two 1200
  79.   baud radios, one 19,200 baud computer/computer link and
  80.   one 300 baud radio. It worked ok.

  84.   Kantronics KPC-4 and KAM require firmware revision 2.03 or later.
  85.   TNC2 should have firmware V 1.1.5 or later. TNC1 should be run
  86.   no faster than 4800 baud.

  92.   1) Backup all files in the MailBox directory (\BBS).
  93.      In case something goes wrong, you will be able to restore
  94.      everything to where it was without loss of messages.

  96.   2) Customize CONFIG.MB for your station.
  97.      Verify that all files required by the MailBox are
  98.      in the MailBox directory (\BBS).
  99.  
  100.   3) Make certain CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT have parameters
  101.      set to handle the MailBox:

  103.      In CONFIG.SYS:

  117.      It is most important, if the system crashes for any reason,
  118.      to do the following, in this order:

  121.      RECOVER

  124.      This will gaurantee that there is no loss of data.
