- RELAYNET(TM) INFORMATION AND MESSAGE EXCHANGE
-
-
- Relaynet(tm) is one of the oldest national networks. We
- support over 190 conferences with over 375 boards throughout
- the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Middle East. The activity
- level of our conferences produce between 800K and 1.2 meg of
- mail daily (the amount of mail you receive daily of course
- depends on the number of conferences your board relays
- daily.) Our topics range from product and software support
- sponsored by authors to current events, political
- discussions, an on-line AA meeting, hardware support such as
- USR, Ashton-Tate, Iomega and Harddisks and we also have small
- amounts of exchanged mail with MediaNet, MetroLink and
- QLink.
-
- With a two node 386 stand alone system running v.32 modems as our
- NetHub, Regional Hubs do not have to compete with BBS users
- for mail transfers. Many of us are pc-pursuitable and allow
- transfers at 2400 as well as higher speeds. A dependable
- back up system is in place in case of NetHub failure (such as
- an already experienced tornado!). For those of you who are
- Hayes oriented - we offer a v.42 19,200 Hayes modem access as
- well. With an established Super Regional System we offer
- even more flexibilty for mail transfer. Super Regional
- systems are committed to three daily transfers and stand
- alone night time transfer setups.
-
- We use the best networking software available with mail
- turnaround times potentially of less than one day!
-
- We consider ourselves a social network, with an open
- structure. Our requirments for joining are small - an
- interest in networking with 375 other boards across the
- world, a willingness to join in and help where necessary and
- contribute to the conferences that YOU enjoy reading,
- ownership of PCRelay software and a small membership fee.
-
- Because we have a wide spread regional hub system you are
- probably fairly close to any one of our 50+ regional hubs
- across the country and Europe. Each one of them would be more
- than happy to provide you access as a node, or you can call a
- Super Regional hub system directly if you choose to be a hub.
-
- There are a few rules to be followed:
-
- 1) Aliases are not permitted (except in designated conferences)
- but sysop-permitted-benign-aliases for whatever reason the
- sysop decides (such as Joe Green) are of course no concern of
- the network.
-
- 2) All nodes must take one conference - the COMMON conference
- so that any user is able to reach any other user in the
- network. With over 375 boards we want our users to be able to
- quickly find a common link from board to board.
