- Quick setup for BBserv.EXE (c) 1990-1991 by F. M. Crosby W1NPR
-
- =============================================================================
- This setup procedure will let you get BBserv going to try it out very
- quickly & easily. This setup may be expanded on as you wish only by
- adding database directories & rerunning SETSERVE.EXE
- ==============================================================================
-
- 1.Copy all the .EXE, .HLP, .REP, .TRL files from the distribution disk to
- to any directory you wish like c:\bs\ or your "BB" default directory.
- Make sure whatever one you put them in is the one ;bbserv_dir = points to !
- You may run the BBserv.exe program from your "BB" default & just put all
- the other files in the bbserv_dir, This makes calling it up easier (no path)
- 2.Enter the following lines at the top of PARMS.BB as follows EXACTLY !
- including comment markers ;
-
-
- ;server_name = bbserv
-
- ;bbserv_dir = c:\bs\ (or whatever you have all the bbserv files in)
-
- ;dir srv = c:\srv\
- ;dis srv = Files related to the developement of BBSERV.EXE
- ;dio srv = W1NPR
-
- 3. Create the directory as stated c:\srv\
-
- 4. From the directory you have setserve.exe in, run setserve.exe
-
- 5. Tell setserve.exe where you have "BB" use all defaults,
- enter "Y" when asked to check directories.
-
- 6. Enter at the BBS command line (V2.11) EL (Path) BBSERV.EXE
- (Path) is the place you put bbserv.exe like C:\bs\BBSERV.EXE
-
- 7. After server runs the first time it will be all set up (First time is long)
-
- 8. You can then try a message to BBSERV sp BBSERV Subject? DU
-
- 9. Enter at the BB command line (V2.11+) EL (Path) BBSERVE.EXE
-
- 10. If all goes well there should be a message for you on your BBS from
- the server.
-
- 11. If you got this far OK you are home free, Now add whatever database
- directories you want following the same format as the one set up for
- the server. You may place the server directory anywhere you want as
- long as you call it srv & leave W1NPR as "OWNER" or if you don't want
- it updated then just leave it out, make another "OWNER" etc. Max is
- 50 databases.
- See the "SHADOW" & "OWNER" doc files for additional types of databases.
-
- 12. Edit all the .TRL (trailer) and .REP (Reply files to suit yourself)
-
- 13. I would recommend reading over the other HLP files & docs to get the
- most from the server.
-
- 14. This is a revision of the previous method of all BBSERV files being
- in the default directory. Look at the READ.ME file in this .ZIP for
- the latest updates.
-
- 15. Good luck, 73 free W1NPR >>
