  1. Trueblood: The Karthanian Ultimatum

  3. By the year 2354, Earth has entered the galactic community.
  4.  
  5. The 21st century development of the Pagano Light Drive was a technological
  6. metamorphosis for the human race.  As the airplane had reduced the relative
  7. time size of the earth during the 20th century, so the light drive had done
  8. for the solar system and nearby stars.  Then in the late 21st century the
  9. development of the Schindler Time Engine openned the door to the galaxy.
  10.  
  11. It was during this period that the Earthlings made contact with the
  12. Karthanian Empire.
  13.  
  14. The Karthanian Empire covers a third of the galaxy.  This empire has been in
  15. existence for over 1,000 years.  Karthanian technology is highly advanced,
  16. with the Light Drive and Time Engine being its only equal in the universe.
  17. The Karthanians have but one objective: complete and utter control of
  18. everything within their grasp.
  19.  
  20. As we enter this future world you will control the fate of Colonel Truman E.
  21. Bloodworth, alias True Blood.  He is a highly skilled and aggressive test
  22. pilot for the new armification effort.  He is one of the few remaining pure
  23. blood homo sapiens left on Earth, or in the entire galaxy for that matter.
  24. Hence, because of his blood line and his name, his friends call him True 
  25. Blood.
  26.  
  27. Playing the game
  28. ----------------
  29. To begin the game, type TRUBLOOD.  If you have a Sound Blaster or compatible
  30. sound card music and digitized sound effects will play throughout the game.
  31. Sound effects only will play if you have only the PC speaker.  To toggle
  32. music off/on during the game, press ALT-M.  To toggle sound effects, press
  33. ALT-S.

  35. True Blood contains seven levels of pulsating action.  During the first 
  36. level you encounter Karthanian scout ships.  Although unarmed, these ships 
  37. carry additional lives, lasers, and shields that you may acquire.
  38.  
  39. As you progress through the game two bonus levels allow you to pick up 
  40. additional lives, lasers, and shields.  It is likely that you will need 
  41. them.  As you get closer and closer to the Karthanian stronghold, you will 
  42. eventually be called on to destroy the Karthanian base, called The Citadel.  
  43. It will take many shots from your weapons to destroy this.  When you score 
  44. a hit it will change color for a brief instant.  As part of its defenses 
  45. The Citadel rotates, and Karthanian warships will come at you in waves in 
  46. an attempt to drive you off.
  47.  
  48. Finally you will come upon the Karthanian Mother Ship.  Once you destroy it
  49. you have successfully accomplished your mission.
