- Enclosed in Conquered Kingdoms should be a manual, a map booklet, registration
- card, and two high density 3 1/2" or two 5 1/4" high density disks.
-
- System Requirements: An IBM PC, XT, AT, PS/2, or compatible computer with
- 640K of RAM. EGA 640 by 350, 16 color mode is supported. Mouse is
- required, but keyboard can be used for many commands. Adlib compatible cards
- and Soundblaster are supported, along with the IBM PC speaker. A disk cache
- is recommended for optimum program speed.

- ------------------- Installing Conquered Kingdoms: ----------------------------

- Insert the first Conquered Kingdoms disk in a floppy drive and
- switch to that drive. Type "INSTALL" to start the install program.
- Follow the directions onscreen and choose the installation option.
- For example, if you want to use drive A to install Conquered Kingdoms
- from, type the following:

- To play from hard drive:
- Switch to the correct partition and subdirectory, then type CC.
- For example, if the hard drive is C, and the directory is CC, type
- the following:
- C:
- CD \CC
- CC

- Whenever starting up Conquered Kingdoms, the following commands can be used:
- (ie. CC A if you want Adlib sound)
- A - use Adlib sound.
- B - use Soundblaster sound.
- N - disable all sound.
- E - no EGA page flipping (for EGA cards with less than 256K memory).

- Be sure your mouse driver is loaded before starting the game.

- ----------------------- More modem information: -------------------------------

- When in the modem window, use Function key 8 to send Control-C signals,
- F9 to send Control-S. In the game's D directory (usually \CC\D) is a text
- file called AVOID.DAT. This contains a list of codes that the program should
- avoid sending out over the modem unless told to by the user. This list usually
- contains 3, the ASCII equivelent of Control-C, and 19 for Control-S. You may
- add to this list to avoid errors while operating over large networks. The
- 1st number in the file is the total codes contained. The 2nd line contains the
- codes, seperated by commas and spaces. This file must contain the same data
- on both machines when playing modem games.

- --------------- Keyboard commands in Conquered Kingdoms: ----------------------

- For most stages of the game, ESCAPE can be used to abort or exit the current
- menu. Most menus highlight keyboard commands with <> or colors. On most menus,
- Q,D,E,X will all exit. Other commands vary from menu to menu as follows:

- During all stages of modem games:
- F1 will send a message to remote computer.
- F2 will redisplay last message recieved from remote computer.

- During modem waiting while other side does movement:
- F9 to see map ownership info.
- F10 to see battle info charts.

- During battle map selection:
- 1 through 9 will select maps 1 through 9.
- R will select Random map.
- S, D, Q, or X will start (continue) battle on that map.

- During game options selection:
- S, Q, or X will start battle.
- Keystrokes for options are highlighted color on screen.

- During city start selection:
- C will change between cities in the left window.
- R will randomly choose starting cities for you, and exit.

- During unit selection:
- M will show more units.
- C will change between cities in the left window.
- R will randomly buy units with your remaining points, and exit.

- During new unit placement:
- C will change between castles in the left window.
- R will randomly place your remaining new units.

- During movement:
- ALT S will save the game.
- C will center map on current megasquare.
- S will stop current unit for rest of turn, unless re-selected.
- B or P will bring up the build menu.
- Y or Z will sentry current unit.
- SPACE will display information about current megasquare.
- Control F7 will display absolute y,x coords. of current megasquare.
- O will display map ownership screen.
- U will display unit information about own or enemy units in megasquare.
- F3 will display combat chart.
- M will allow wizards to cast far see spell.
- I will display battle info screen.
- T will bring up the game toggles menu.
