- A. SELECT DRIVE
- You need to select which disk drive PART is to work with only if you
- have more than one hard disk. If drive C: is your only hard disk drive,
- press function key F1. If you have several hard disk drives, press the
- function key for the desired disk drive.
-
- B. DISPLAY PARTITION
- This display lists information about the partition(s) on the hard disk
- you selected. The information displayed is:
- Partition number
- Status (unallocated, DOS, or non-DOS)
- Start and end cylinder numbers
- The partition size in Kilobytes (thousands of characters)
- The percentage of the disk in this partition.
-
- C. Allow you to
- 1. SELECT default PARTITION for boot
- This option allows you to change the disk partition for
- another operating system besides the DOS you are currently
- using. Once you change the default partition, when you
- "boot" or start your system from the hard disk, the operating
- system in the new active partition will start.
-
- 2. ALLOCATE DOS PARTITION
- You must perform this operation when you first set up your
- hard disk. You can do this to create up to 4 areas on the
- hard disk for use by other operating systems. After you
- create a new partition, you must use the FORMAT command
- before the partition can be used by DOS for storing files.
-
- 3. DELETE DOS PARTITION
- This does exactly what is says, it deletes an entire partition.
- Before you select this option, be sure to copy all of the
- files in the partition to diskettes, because they will be
- wiped out when you delete the partition.
