  3. Any file that is on the disk but has a special flag set in the directory
  4. that "hides" it from normal view. The system files are usually hidden files. 
  5. You won't see hidden files listed if you do a DIR command. To list and 
  6. manipulate hidden files usually requires the use of a separately purchased 
  7. program.

  9. The other attributes (characteristics, properties) that DOS keeps track of for
  10. each file are described in the DIRECTORY definition.
