  3. These commands can only be placed in the CONFIG.SYS file.

  5.  CONFIG.SYS COMMAND    WHAT IT DOES
  6.  
  7.     BREAK        determines how often DOS checks for Ctrl-Break
  8.     BUFFERS        determines number of disk buffers DOS allocates
  9.     COUNTRY        establishes date format and country code to be used
  10.     DEVICE        installs a disk or other device driver program 
  11.     DRIVPARM*    modifies DOS disk configuration table
  12.     FCBS        determines how many simultaneous FCBS DOS will allow
  13.     FILES        determines how many files can be open simultaneously
  14.     INSTALL**    installs a Terminate-and-Stay-Resident program
  15.     LASTDRIVE    determines how many disk drives are allowed
  16.     REM**         remark or comment line (can be used with any level of
  17.             DOS but may cause a warning message to be displayed)
  18.     SHELL        sets environment space size and installs COMMAND.COM
  19.     STACKS*        determines how many nested interrupts to save
  20.     SWITCHES**    determines configuration switch settings
