- INSTALL=[d:][pathname]filename[.ext] [options ...] [new DOS 4.0]
-
- The INSTALL line in CONFIG.SYS will install a terminate-and-stay-resident
- (TSR) type of program more efficiently than the previous method of initially
- executing it in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. A TSR program is a command entered
- from the keyboard, like any other program. The program runs and terminates,
- and a prompt is printed by DOS, requesting the next command. However, the
- TSR program is still in memory, along with DOS, and both DOS and the TSR
- program will now respond to keyboard commands. Only a few TSR programs can
- presently be installed in this way.
