  1.                           ASSIGNMENT OF KEYS

  3. Many of the keys on the keyboard can be (re)assigned, so that pressing one key
  4. will have the effect of pressing several other keys by using key assignment
  5. escape sequences. Function keys, and most other keys, such as the letter and 
  6. cursor keys, can be assigned in this way.

  8. In order to be able to reassign keys, you must have the line DEVICE=ANSI.SYS 
  9. in the CONFIG.SYS file. When you boot your computer with ANSI.SYS installed, 
  10. key reassignment escape sequences will be processed by the ANSI.SYS program.

  12. Press the Enter, Return, or <──┘ key until you to return to the "Topic?" 
  13. prompt, and request the "SUMMARY KEYBOARD ASSIGNMENT_OF_KEYS" topic for more 
  14. information. Any assignments you do will probably be ignored by most 
  15. separately purchased programs.
