- CONFIG.SYS
- CONFIG.SYS is an optional file in the root directory on the default boot
- device. Every time the system is booted, this file is read to see what
- devices and configuration options you have specified. For more information
- about how CONFIG.SYS is used, see the NEW_TERMS BOOT topic. OS/2 is
- considerably more complicated than DOS. See the EXAMPLES below.
-
- The following lines may be in the CONFIG.SYS file: BREAK, BUFFERS, COUNTRY,
- DEVICE, DRIVPARM*, FCBS, FILES, INSTALL**, LASTDRIVE, REM**, SHELL, STACKS*,
- and SWITCHES**. REM (remark or comment) lines can be put in the CONFIG.SYS
- file. Lines beginning with "REM" may, on versions of DOS earlier than 4.0,
- cause the message "Unrecognized command in CONFIG.SYS" to be displayed when
- the system is booted, but they will not affect system operation. To modify
- CONFIG.SYS, use an editor to add to or change the lines in it. Any changes
- made won't go into effect until you re-boot the system.
