  1. This directory contains Dvipsk, my (kb@cs.umb.edu) modified version of
  2. Tom Rokicki's dvips.

  5. I will be convering dvips over to using fontinst fonts---soon.  I will also
  6. be adding some new `standard' specials and context specials.  So things
  7. will probably be changing a fair bit soon.  (Of course, I plan to maintain
  8. full backward compatibility.)

  22. The file `INSTALL' explains the installation process, which I changed to
  23. use a GNU-style (Autoconf-generated) `configure' script to guess
  24. system-dependent information, instead of requiring the installer to do
  25. everything in the Makefile.

  27. Aside from configuration, this differs from the original primarily in
  28. that it uses the same code for path searching as TeX and my other
  29. distributions.

  32. bothered with bugs that aren't in his program.

  37. Dvipsk is free software; Tom's original files are public domain.  The
  38. files I wrote (originally for the Free Software Foundation) are covered

  41. You can get the original dvips from labrea.stanford.edu:pub/dvips*.

  43. config.ps is changed drastically from the original (which remains in
  44. config.psr).  I also changed MakeTeXPK and psfonts.map in (I intended)
  45. upward-compatible ways.

  47. The documentation is now in Texinfo format.  I've removed the font
  48. naming section, since it was an old version of the font naming document
  49. (which you can get from ftp.cs.umb.edu:pub/tex/fontname/fontname.texi).
