  8. NcFTP is a user interface to the Internet standard File Transfer
  9. Protocol.  This program allows a user to transfer files to and from a
  10. remote network site, and offers additional features that are not found
  11. in the standard interface, ftp.

  13. The program runs in one of three modes: visual mode, line mode, and
  14. colon mode.

  16. If your system is somewhat modern, the default mode should be visual
  17. mode.  This is a full-screen interface that uses the curses library.
  18. With visual mode, you edit the program's settings with a nice screen
  19. interface instead of typing arcane commands.

  21. If you are not in visual mode, you will be using line mode for the
  22. interactive shell.  This mode is a no-frills command-line interface
  23. that will look like the default ftp program's command shell.

  25. The third mode, colon mode, refers to the program's ability to do a
  26. quick retrieve of a file directly from your shell command line,
  27. without going into the program's own shell.  This mode is useful for
  28. shell scripts.
