  6. Hello and welcome to PowWow Version 3.1!

  8. PowWow Version 3.1 offers many innovative and new features, such
  9. as text-to-speech and an installation program.  Also, many existing
  10. features have been improved, such as Conference Mode and Voice Chat.

  12. Be sure to read the PowWow User's Guide (filename POWWOW.DOC) to
  13. learn how to use the new and improved features.

  17. TROUBLESHOOTING & SETUP ISSUES

  20. I.  WINDOWS 95 and NT USERS:
  21.  
  22. This is the 16-bit version of PowWow.   We recommend you use the 32-bit
  23. version of PowWow under Windows 95 and NT.  You may download it from:

  31. II.  IBM WIN-OS2 USERS:
  32.  
  33. If you receive a GPF during the setup process, switch from a Windowed to
  34. a Full-Screen WIN-OS2 session and re-run setup.

  38. III.  SETUP DOES NOT COMPLETE
  39.  
  40. If PowWow Setup reports any of the following:
  41.  
  42. o   cannot find _SETUP.DLL and _ISRES.DLL files,
  43.  
  44. o   cannot find a location to store temporary files in,
  45.  
  46. o   cannot decompress or copy files
  47.  
  48. or otherwise cannot continue the installation process then it is very likely
  49. there is a problem with your temporary directory.
  50.  
  51. The setup program requires your computer have a temporary directory on your
  52. hard disk to unpack files used during the setup process. At the end of the
  53. setup process these files are removed.  To make a temporary directory on your
  54. computer first create the directory and then add a line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT
  55. file which says:
  56.  
  57.         SET TEMP={pathname of temporary directory}
  58.  
  59. If you use Windows 95 or NT, make sure the directory uses a short ("8.3"-style)
  60. name, not a long-name like "C:\Temporary Files".
  61.  
  62. For example, you could use:
  63.  
  64.         SET TEMP=C:\TEMP
  65.  
  66. for your temporary directory.  The drive which has the temporary directory
  67. should have at least 4Mb of disk space free.
  68.  
  69.  
  70. NOTE: If you have done all the above and still receive errors while running
  71.       Setup delete the contents of the temporary directory and re-run Setup.
