- █ File menu
-
- The File Menu contains commands
- that let you open and save files, save a
- configuration to disk, print a data file,
- and export data.

- █ New
-
- The File|New menu item contains two
- menu commands: Data Sheet and Plot.

- Data Sheet: This command creates a
- sheet window.
- Plot: This command creates a plot
- window.

- █ Open

- The File|Open menu item contains two
- menu commands: Data Sheet and Plot.

- Data Sheet: This command loads a
- TechPlot Data file.
- Plot: This command loads a TechPlot
- Graph file.

- █ Save
-
- This command saves the data in the
- active data sheet to disk.

- █ Save As
-
- This command lets you save the active
- data sheet to a different name, in a
- different directory or on a different
- drive.

- █ Import Data
- The File|Import Data menu item has a
- pop-up menu (or a sub-menu) which contains
- the following commands: ASCII, Lotus, DIF,
- dBase, Excel, and QuattroPro.

- ASCII
- An ASCII data file is a text file with
- tab, space or "," delimiters between
- numbers. The first non-numeric line is
- considered as the column names for data
- columns. The keywords "MOREDATA" and
- "ENDDATA" can be used to handle large
- number of data columns.

- Lotus
- TechPlot can import Lotus file format
- for Lotus 1-2-3, version 1, 1A and 2.0.

- DIF
- DIF stands for the Data Interchange
- Format proposed by Lotus Development
- Corporation.

- dBase
- TechPlot can import Ashton-Tate's
- dBase file format for dBase release II,
- III, and IV.

- Excel
- TechPlot can import Microsoft's Excel
- file format for MS Excel version 2 and
- 3.

- QuattroPro
- TechPlot can import Borland'
- QuattroPro file format for Quattro Pro
- version 2.0.

- █ Export Data
-
- The File | Export Data menu item has a
- pop-up menu (or a sub-menu) which contains
- the following commands: ASCII, Lotus, DIF,
- dBase, Excel, and SYLK.

- ASCII
- To export the current sheet data to an
- ASCII text file format.

- Lotus
- To export the current sheet data to a
- Lotus 1-2-3 "WKS" file format.

- DIF
- To export the current sheet data to a
- Data Interchange Format.

- dBase
- To export the current sheet data to a
- dBase "DBF" file format.

- Excel
- To export the current sheet data to an
- Excel "XLS" file format.

- SYLK
- To export the current sheet data to a
- Symbolic Link file format.

- █ Save Configuration
-
- This command appears on the File menu
- as Save Config. It saves the current
- TechPlot preferences and configurations
- to a disk file. The configuration file
- contains the printer options such as
- printer port, age mode, etc.; numerical
- options such as user-defined function,
- min-max value, number of points, etc.;
- plot setup options such as symbol type,
- color, size, etc.

- █ Load Configuration

- This command loads the configuration
- options from a disk file to the current
- TechPlot preferences and configurations.

- █ Set Printer
-
- This command lets you select a target
- printer for data sheet output.

- █ Print
-
- This command lets you print the active
- sheet data. Please make sure that a
- printer is properly connected to your
- computer and that it is turned on before
- you choose this command.

- TechPlot will add a page header which
- includes file name, date, time, and page
- number information to the hardcopy.

- █ Print Selection
-
- This command lets you print the current
- selected block of the active sheet data.
-
- █ DOS Shell
-
- The File|DOS Shell command allows you
- temporarily exit TechPlot to the DOS
- command line. To return to TechPlot, type
- EXIT and press <Enter>.

- █ Exit
-
-
- The File|Exit command exits TechPlot,
- removes it from memory, and returns you
- to the DOS command line.
