- █ Using the mouse
-
- The mouse controls a pointer on the
- screen. You move the pointer by sliding
- the mouse over a flat surface in the
- direction you want the pointer to move.
- You should not press the mouse button when
- you move the mouse. If you run out of
- room to move the mouse, simply lift it and
- the put it down in a convenient spot. The
- pointer doesn't move while the mouse is in
- the air. Most mice have two or three
- buttons: you can either use the left
- button or the right button for most tasks
- in TechPlot. Moving the mouse and
- pressing the mouse button are the only
- actions involved in the basic skills of
- pointing, clicking, and dragging.
-
- ■ Pointing
-
- Moving the mouse to place the pointer
- over an item is called pointing.
-
- ■ Clicking
-
- Pointing to an item on your screen and
- then quickly pressing and releasing the
- mouse button is called clicking. You
- select menu items or objects in Plot View
- by clicking. Double-clicking -- pointing
- to an item and quickly pressing the mouse
- twice -- is a convenient shortcut for
- formatting many of the plot objects in
- the Plot View.
-
- ■ Dragging
-
- Holding down the mouse button as you
- move the pointer is called dragging.
- You can use this technique to select a
- block of cells in the Sheet View or move
- an object around in the Plot View.
-
-
- █ Using emulated mouse
-
- If no mouse is installed on your
- computer, TechPlot will provide you with
- an emulated mouse. The emulated mouse
- cursor is a cross sign. It is operated
- by the following keys on your keyboard:
-
- <Arrow> Move the emulated mouse
- cursor in the Plot View.
-
- <Shift+Arrow> Move the emulated mouse
- cursor in all views.
-
- <Ctrl+Arrow> Move the emulated mouse
- cursor by large step size.
-
- <+> Increase the step size.
-
- <-> Decrease the step size.
-
- <Ins> Press the emulated mouse
- button. For most cases,
- the first <ins> for mouse
- button down and the second
- <Ins> for moue button up.
-
- <Space> Move the cursor from one
- button to the next in the
- Tool Box and Color Palette.
-
- <Home> Move cursor in up-left
- <Shift+Home> direction.
-
- <End> Move cursor in down-left
- <Shift+End> direction.
-
- <PgUp> Move cursor in up-right
- <Shift+PgUP> direction.
-
- <PgDn> Move cursor in down-right
- <Shift+PgDn> direction.
-
- <Ctrl+Home> Move cursor in up-left
- direction by large step
- size.
-
- <Ctrl+End> Move cursor in down-left
- direction by large step
- size.
-
- <Ctrl+PgUp> Move cursor in up-right
- direction by large step
- size.
-
- <Ctrl+PgDn> Move cursor in down-right
- direction by large step
- size.
-
- NOTE:
- In some cases, if the active view has
- trapped these key down messages, these
- general rules may not be followed.
-
- For example:
- In the Sheet View, the <Home>, <End>,
- <PgUp> and <PgDn> key down message
- will be trapped for fast data sheet
- scrolling. The emulated mouse cursor
- will not be moved by these keys.
