Apparently, │ │ the game's installer actually adds some system services to your │ │ registry (that's what those .SYS files were), and special registry │ │ entries have to be made to force the services to load. │ │ │ │ Whew. Enough already...enjoy the game, and my humble apologies to │ │ those who had the game crash on them. │ │ │ │ │ │ Rip & Installation Information │ │ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ │ │ To apply the fix, simply unzip this archive into your GPL directory, │ │ and run SETUP.EXE. The appropriate registry entries will be created, │ │ and the two system services (PAPYCPU.SYS and PAPYJOY.SYS) will be │ │ copied to the proper location. │ │ │ │ After SETUP is complete, you MUST reboot in order to have the new │ │ services load...if you don't reboot, it won't work. =) │ │ │ │ That's it! │ │ │ │ │ │ P.S. Any "class" act that would have you believe that the new disk │ │ limit of 90 disks (as accepted by the majority of the existing SPA │ │ group leaders) is simply for the purpose of allowing sub-standard │ │ crackers and rippers to release, has completely missed the point. │ │ │ │ The new limit of 90 disks is designed to allow games to be more │ │ full-featured in their base package, so that games do not have to │ │ chopped into addons, solely for the purpose of going under 75 │ │ disks. The extra 15 disks of space allows things such as music to │ │ be included in a base release, adding to the overall quality and │ │ playability of the game. Modern developers are using the CD-ROM │ │ space more and more for actual game data, rather than bloating │ │ games with unnecessary movies as it was in the beginning. The │ │ vast majority of modern 3D games contain large amounts of raw │ │ textures...so the simple question is, do we make the game less │ │ playable and rip out these features? Or raise the disk limit to │ │ accomodate the trend of data "inflation"?
