  1.             InfoMagic Standards CD-ROM Set

  4. These CDs contain a variety of standards documents gathered from a
  5. number of public sources.  Every effort has been made to arrange the
  6. files in a meaningful and useful directory structure.  Naturally there
  7. is a "misc" directory that contains things that didn't quite fit
  8. anywhere else.
  9.  
  10. Previous releases of this disc contained an IEEE directory.  We were forced
  11. to remove this at the insistance of the IEEE.  So much for the widespread
  12. distribution of standards !
  13.  
  14. The directories on the discs are as follows:

  24. hyperrfc/    RFC's in HyperText
  25. winsock/    Windows Sockets docs
  26. winsnmp/    Windows SNMP specs.
  27. infostnd/    Installation files for the Browser (see below)
  28. ghost/        Installation files for Ghostscript and Ghostview (see
  29.         below)

  32. ccitt/        1988 Bluebook and 1992 revisions
  33.  1988        1988 material in ASCII, Postscript, and TROFF
  34.  1992        1992 (and newer) material in Postscript, ASCII, WordPerfect
  35.         and Word-for-Windows format

  37. In the 1988 version of the Bluebook, volume 8, which covers
  38. networking, is only provided in preliminary troff files.  These files
  39. are not completely usable as provided, though much of the text formats
  40. correctly.  Many of these documents are available in the 1992 versions
  41. in Word for Windows, ASCII, and EPS formats.
  42.  
  43. The file "files.lst" shows the location and date/size information
  44. for all the files on both discs.
  45.  
  46. We have provided several applications on the 1st disc.  These
  47. include: 
  48.     1)    RFC's in Hypertext.  This is a compilation from late
  49.         1991 of approximately 250 of the core RFC's.  They
  50.         are all fully updated as of the creation date (Oct
  51.         1991) and fully cross linked.  This application uses
  52.         version 1.0 of the Microsoft Multimedia Viewer (which
  53.         is provided).  To install this application run
  54.         "setup.exe" from the "hyperrfc" directory.
  55.  
  56.     2)    Ghostscript and Ghostview.  These two applications
  57.         allow postscript files to be viewed under DOS and
  58.         Windows and to be printed on non-postscript printers.
  59.         They are required to use the included browser (see
  60.         below).  To install these applications run
  61.         "setup.exe" from the "ghost" directory.
  62.  
  63.     3)    The InfoMagic Standards Browser.  This application
  64.         lets you view the CCITT & RFC's directly from the CD.
  65.         It supports viewing of the ASCII, Postscript, and
  66.         Word-for-Windows versions (assuming you have the
  67.         supporting applications).  To install the browser run
  68.         "setup.exe" from the "infostnd" directory.
