- IDRP Family Document Tree
-
-
- Status of this memo
-
-
- This memo lists the documents which specify adaptation of the ISO
- Inter-Domain Routing Protocol ([1]) that enables it to be used as an
- Inter-Autonomous System routing protocol in the TCP/IP Internet.
- IDRP with this adaptation will be called "IDRP for IP" in this
- document. In addition, this document list the versions of the ISO
- documents which are referenced by the Internet documents. This
- document gives the current status of each document. As the
- documentation relating to IDRP changes status, this document will be
- revised. During the early process of the IDRP documents, this
- document may change several times as the status of the documents
- change.
-
-
- Dual IDRP, that is, a single IDRP that simultaneously support
- Inter-Domain/Inter-Autonomous System routing in the TCP/IP and OSI
- Internets is currently not being specified in the Internet. When
- Dual IDRP is specified, this document will be revised to list the set
- of Dual IDRP documents.
-
-
- This document is an Internet Draft. Internet Drafts are working
- documents of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), its Areas,
- and its Working Groups. Note that other groups may also distribute
- working documents as Internet Drafts.
-
- Internet Drafts are draft documents valid for a maximum of six
- months. Internet Drafts may be updated, replaced, or obsoleted by
- other documents at any time. It is not appropriate to use Internet
- Drafts as reference material or to cite them other than as a "working
- draft" or "work in progress."

-
- (Remember reviewers will be rewarded in print!!)
-
- 2. Overview
-
-
- IDRP ([1]) is defined as the protocol for exchange of
- Inter-Domain routing information between routers to support
- forwarding of ISO 8473 (Connectionless Network Layer Protocol
- (CLNP))[2] PDUs. This document lists:
-
- - the IETF documents which define the adaptation of the IDRP
- protocol definition that enables it to be used as protocol for
- the exchange of inter-autonomous system information among routers
- to support the forwarding of IP packets across multiple
- autonomous systems.
-
- (The adaptation is defined is such a way that a Dual IDRP will be
- able to fully interoperate with IDRP for IP.)
-
-
- - the ISO documents which define IDRP and it's interactions
- with other ISO protocols
-
-
- 3. Assumptions in the IDRP for IP world
-
- The IDRP for IP protocol assumes that network addresses are globally
- unique. The IDRP for IP protocol cannot be guaranteed to work in an
- environment where network addresses are not globally unique.

- IP MIB. An appendix is planned; IDRP For IP GDMO.
-
- Status: Pre-Internet Draft
-
- Version: 1

-
- Comments Requested on:
- Technical Review of the MIB variables included:
-
- 1.) Are more variables needed?
-
- 2.) Can any of these variables be deleted?
-
- 3.) ISO does not have the same restrictions that SNMP has on the
- representation of tables. Are the ISO variables from section 12
- of the ISO document represented correctly:
-
- Section on idrpConfig:
-
- - internalBIs
-
- - intraIS
-
- - externalBISNeighbor
-
- - internalSystems
-
- - localSNPA
-
-
- Section on adjacentBISPkg:
-
- - bisPeerSNPAs
-
-
- 4.) The rdcConfig variable which is an attribute of the
- idrpConfig variable in the ISO document. This variable is a
- Sequence of tuples: (confederation set id and a SET of RDIs).
- How can this type of variable be done in SNMP? Is it possible?
-
-
- Editorial Review:
-
