  5.               Using the Cardinal 2400MNP & 2450MNP with FLASHlink
  6.               ---------------------------------------------------

  8.          FLASHlink has been designed as a powerful communications
  9.          package supporting MNP.  FLASHlink supports both MNP modems
  10.          (hardware MNP) and Hayes AT command compatible non-MNP modems
  11.          (software MNP).
  12.  
  13.          A hardware MNP modem, such as the Cardinal 2400MNP or 2450MNP,
  14.          places greater requirements on the communications software
  15.          than a non-MNP modem.  These additional requirements
  16.          include the following:
  17.  
  18.               - Auto baud adjust DISABLE.  The data link between the
  19.                 PC and the modem must be higher than the modem's
  20.                 connect rate.  For the modem to compress the data
  21.                 being transmitted, achieving a higher throughput, it
  22.                 must be able to get the data from the PC at higher
  23.                 rates.  With the Cardinal 2400MNP & 2450MNP modems, 
  24.                 the data link with the PC should be at 9600 bps.

  26.               - Hardware handshake must be enabled.  When the data
  27.                 link and the modem connect rate differ, it is necessary
  28.                 to have a handshake between the two to prevent the
  29.                 modems data buffer from overflowing.
  30.  
  31.               - Efficient file transfer protocol.  Ymodem-G is a
  32.                 protocol that is designed to be used with MNP.  When
  33.                 operating in the error free environment provided by
  34.                 MNP, it is not necessary to use a file transfer
  35.                 protocol with error correction built in.  In fact
  36.                 protocols such as Xmodem and Ymodem tend to operate
  37.                 slower in the MNP environment.

  39.          To use FLASHlink with the Cardinal 2400MNP & 2450MNP modems
  40.          the following setup should be performed:
