- HOW THE MENUS WORK
-
-
-
- 1. Press the Alt key followed by the first letter of the menu you
- want. For example, to display the Print Menu, press Alt-P; to
- display the Display Menu, press Alt-D.
-
- 2. Press the F10 key. This will display the File Menu. You can
- choose an option from the File Menu in two ways:
-
- a) You can point to the option you want with the up and down
- arrow keys and then press Enter.
- b) You can press the first letter of the option you want.
-
- To use menus other than the File Menu, press the left and right
- arrow keys to move to a different menu. This is also a good way
- to familiarize yourself with all the different menu choices
- available.
-
- Remember:
- YOU CAN ALWAYS PRESS THE ESC KEY TO CANCEL WHAT YOU ARE
- CURRENTLY DOING.
- If you are in a menu, pressing the Esc key will cancel that
- menu.
-
- 3. Press the appropriate shortcut keystroke and bypass the menus
- entirely. A single keystroke, enclosed within parentheses, is
- listed to the right of many menu options; press this to choose
- the corresponding option. For example, to the right of the
- first option on the Edit Menu, Find String, you'll see (^F).
- This means that you can press ^F (Ctrl-F) to immediately execute
- the Find String option without using the menus at all.
-
- This method is designed for advanced users who want to speed up
- the operation of PC-OUTLINE. You will notice that every menu
- option does not have a shortcut keystroke listed. This is
- because there is a limited number of shortcut keystroke
- combinations available. If you want some menu options to have
- shortcut keystrokes that don't already have them, or if you want
- to change some of the existing shortcuts, you can define your
- own shortcut keystrokes with the Key Definition option on the
- Advanced Menu. There is more about this option in the printed
- manual.
-
- 4. Try these methods now, and, remember, if you get stuck, press
- Esc.
