  1.            HOW TO DIVIDE OR JOIN OUTLINE ELEMENTS

  4.  A. To divide one element into two,
  5.     position the cursor at the location where you want the
  6.     second element to begin and choose Divide Outline Entries
  7.     from the Outline Menu.  This will create a new outline
  8.     element on the same level as and immediately following the
  9.     original element.  Any children of the original element will
  10.     become children of the second element.

  12.     1. Try to divide this element HERE and HERE and HERE.

  14.  B. To join two elements into one,
  15.     position the cursor anywhere in the first of the two
  16.     elements to be combined and choose Join Outline Entries from
  17.     the Outline Menu.  Both elements must be on the same level,
  18.     and the first element must not have any children.  Any
  19.     children of the second element will become children of the
  20.     new element.

  22.     1. Move the cursor back to the first of the four children of
  23.        the above element and try to join the four elements into
  24.        one.
