  17.             But.... Doom is a trademark  of ID Software
  18.             This set of batch files is NOT by ID Software
  19.                 so don't ask them for support.
  20.  
  21.             SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: A system fast enough to run doom
  22.             and a 9600 baud modem or higher. Oh yeah.... you need Doom 
  23.             also. DOOM 1.2 registered or Shareware.
  24.  
  25.             1.) make sure you have a path to dos:  path=c:\dos
  26.             2.) have the files copied to the dos directory.
  27.             3.) type edit modem.bat 
  28.                 it will say: mode com2:96,n,1,p
  29.                              echo at z s46=0 &q0 > com2
  30.             4:) make sure the com port is correct if you modem is
  31.                 on com1 you should change it too look like this:
  32.                              mode com1:96,n,1,p
  33.                              echo at z s46=0 &q0 > com2
  34.             5:)do file\exit\answer YES to the question Save <yes> <no>
  35.             6:)type MODEM at the C:\ prompt: it sould read on the screen:
  36.                    Resident portion of MODE loaded
  37.                    COM2(or com1): 9600,n,8,1,p
  38.             7:)then type: echo atdt000-0000 > com2 (or com1)
  39.                    000-0000 being your friends number that has doom
  40.             8:)Make sure you give this program to your friend
  41.             9.)He does the exact same thing but instead of step7
  42.                 he types answer WHEN THE PHONE RINGS NOT BEFORE IT DOES
  43.             10.)go into doom setup (probably doom's directory then type setup)
  44.             11.)go to network/modem/serial game press enter
  45.             12.)setup everything make sure you two have the same settings 
  46.                 unless your com ports that your modems are on are different
  47.             13.)double click already connected and then double click run doom
  48.             14.)it will connect right away it should not take long if it 
  49.                 dosen't connect make sure the batch file settings
  50.                 are correct if that doesn't work e-mail me at: 74347,1221
  51.                 tell me EXACTLY what you did to setup and tell me how you modified it
  52.                 if you did.
  53.             NOTE:after this first setup all you need is the batch commands
  54.             and step 7 and maybe a path to dos.

  60.         It will work for you as long as the modem settings are correct, you 
  61.         have DOOM 1.2 and you are calling the right number.
