- This page will show you Information about the available Tracks on your CD.
- Here you can enter Title Information of the inserted CD. This Information will
- be saved to a file ALBATROS.INI in your Albatros Directory. This information
- is loaded every Time you insert the Compact Disk.
-
- In case you haven't entered any information for your CD, you will not see any
- information displayed.
-
- CD Title
- Here you can enter the Titel of your Compact Disk. This Title will be
- displayed at the Top of the Container.
-
- Title
- Select a Track first, then you can here enter the Titel of the selected Track.
- It will be automatically be inserted in the container.
-

- useful for mixed CD's where every Title has it's own Artist. This will be
- automatically be inserted in the container.
-
- Drag and Drop Editing
- Editing Title and Track information can be made a lot easier with Drag and
- Drop. For this you will have to prepare a file (any name you like, it is HPFS
- aware, but has to have the ending *.ALB) which has the following format :
-
- CD Titel
- Track 1 Title
- Artist 1
- Track 2 Title
- # This would be Artist 2 but is blank !!
- Track 3 Title
- # Artist 3 BLANK
- Track 4 Title
- Artist 4
- Track 5 Title
- #
- Track 6 Title
- #
- Track 7 Title
- #
- Track 8 Title
- #
- Track 9 Title
- #
- Track 10 Title
- #
-
- You will have to edit a file exactly as stated above. Empty lines will not be
- recognized, and you will have to include the # for a blank line. The file has
- to consist of (2* Number of Tracks on CD )+1 lines, more or less lines in the
- file will cause an Error Message, and the file will not be imported.
-
- Example : If your CD has 10 audio tracks the Import file will only be
- accepted when it has 21 lines.
-
- If you have prepared the File, you can drag it from the Drives object
- container (Icon View, Details View, etc) and drop it on a space next to the
- Titles container, when you see the appropriate Drag+Drop icon displayed. The
- file may also be dropped on the main display (see below). See also the File
- IMPORT.ALB as a template for writing your own Files.

-

-
- PRICES
-
- The Compuserve Registration costs 60DM or 40$
-
- The Normal Registration costs 50DM or 35$
-
- Since cashing in a check in foreign currency is rather expensive in
- Germany, I prefer a DM check or Cash
- Cashing in a Dollar check costs 10$ for me at my local bank.
-
- Therefore: if you send a check in Dollar or any other (for me) foreign
- currency, please add 5$ (10DM)
-
- When I have to send the registration disc to outside Europe, please add 3$
- (5DM)
-
- Why register ?
-
- Because I am already coding the player for more than a year ?
-
- Because I am a poor student in germany ?
-
- Because I will send you a registration key to stop the "Nagging Windows"?
-
- Because I will send you a disc containing the newest Version of Albatros,
- as well as a CD title archiv with more than 1700 different CD titles ?
-
- Because all versions 1.xx will be free for you ?
-
- For a good conscience ?

-
- Q: I have Albatros installed, but when i try to start it, it says MDM.*** not found
- or the Program does not start and instead shows a settings page
-
- A: Please install MMPM/2 for OS/2
-
-
- Q: I have MMPM/2 installed, but Albatros shows "NO DISC" even when there is a
- AUDIO CD in the drive
-
- A: There are two possible solutions :
- 1) You installed MMPM/2 but forgot to Install CD ROM Support, just reinstall
- CD ROM support in MMPM/2 again
-
- 2) You installed CD ROM Support in MMPM/2 but the Path is incorrect:
- Check in the MMPM/2 Setup whether the CD Rom is pointing to the correct
- Drive Letter
-
-
- Q: Albatros starts fine, but there is no sound comming through the speaker, even when i turn
- Albatros' Volume Knob
-
- A: This problem is usually related to your sound card, when the CD ROM wiring is connected to
- the internal CD ROM input of your Sound Card. This input of your sound card is sometimes
- set to "0"
-
- You will now have to use a PMMIXER for your sound Card to enable the CD ROM Sound input to
- anything higher than "0"
-
- On an IBM machine it might help to start the Wave Editor Applet to restore your CD Sound
- ( sounds strange, but works ! )
-
-
- Q: Albatros shows a totally black display ( I had Version 1.2 and everything was fine,
- now i upgraded to 1.5 )
-
- A: The color selector has changed. Please go to Notebook Page Three and Select COLOR-DEFAULT,
- this will restore your Colors.
-
-
- Q: What is the Font Developers Kit good for ?
-
- A: To create you own LCD Style Fonts ( It requires the OS/2 Programming Toolkit )
-
-
- Q: I had quite a few Titles entered in CD EXPLORER, do I have to type them again?
-
- A: No, use the StealTXT.CMD file for extracting titles from the CD Eplorer INI File
-
-
- Q: When i try to select a new color from the color palette and drop it on the color
- preview page, the color of the background is changed, but not the foreground
-
- A: Please use CTRL-Right mouse button to change foreground color
-
-
- Q: I am using WARP II Beta and there is no CD ROM Support ?
-
- A :
- *) Open a session (Dos or Os/2)
- *) change directory to /mmos2
- *) edit the mmpm2.ini file...
-
- *) add the CDaudio line to the drivers section, e.g.
-
- [Drivers]
- Digitalvideo=IBMDIGVIDPLAYER01
- Waveaudio=IBMWAVESB01
- Sequencer=IBMSEQSB01
- Ampmix=IBMAMPMIXSB01
- Speaker=SPEAKER
- Headphone=HEADPHONE
- Microphone=MICROPHONE
- CDaudio=IBMCD010_1 <---------------------add this
-
- *) add the following to the end of the file...
-
- [IBMCD010_1]
- VERSIONNUMBER=1
- PRODUCTINFO=DEFAULT
- MCDDRIVER=CDAUDIO
- VSDDRIVER=GENCDVSD
- PDDNAME=CDROM
- MCDTABLE=MDM

- RESOURCEUNITS=1
- RESOURCECLASSES=1,1
- PARMSTRING=Drive=F,Model=DEFAULT DEFAULT1 <----change drive letter
- CONNECTORS=1,6,HEADPHONE,1
- ALIASNAME=Compact Disc
-
- *) Save the file
- *) Shutdown OS/2
- *) Reboot

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 14. The Spanish Inquisition ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition, not even in this documentation
-
- Voice over film of Medieval Europe
- "In the early years of the 16th century, in an attempt to quell the rising tide
- of religious unorthodoxy, the pope agve Cardinal Ximenez of Spain leave to move
- without let or hindrance in a reign of violence and terror that makes a
- smashing film...This was the Spanish Inquisition...
-
- The door flies open and Cardinal Ximinez of Spain (Palin) enters, flanked by
- two junior cardinals. Cardinal Biggles (Jones) has goggles pushed over his
- forehead. Cardinal Fang (Gilliam) is just Cardinal Fang
-
- Ximinez: NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is
- suprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two
- weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our
- *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an
- almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no...
- *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as
- fear, surprise.... I'll come in again. Exit and exeunt
-
- Chapman: I didn't expect a kind of Spanish Inquisition.
-
- The cardinals burst in
- Ximinez: NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Amongst our weaponry are such
- diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost
- fanatical devotion to the Pope, and nice red uniforms - Oh damn! To
- Cardinal Biggles I can't say it - you'll have to say it.
- Biggles: What?
- Ximinez: You'll have to say the bit about 'Our chief weapons are ...'
- Biggles: rather horrified I couldn't do that...
- Ximinez bundles the cardinals outside again
-
- Chapman: I didn't expect a kind of Spanish Inquisition
-
- The cardinals enter
- Biggles: Er.... Nobody...um....
- Ximinez: Expects...
- Biggles: Expects... Nobody expects the...um...the Spanish...um...
- Ximinez: Inquisition.
- Biggles: I know, I know! Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. In fact,
- those who do expect -
- Ximinez: Our chief weapons are...
- Biggles: Our chief weapons are...um...er...
- Ximinez: Surprise...
- Biggles: Surprise and --
- Ximinez: Okay, stop. Stop. Stop there - stop there. Stop. Phew! Ah!
- ...our chief weapons are surprise...blah blah blah. Cardinal,
- read the charges.
- Fang: You are hereby charged that you did on diverse dates commit heresy
- against the Holy Church. 'My old man said follow the--'
- Biggles: That's enough. To Cleveland Now, how do you plead?
- Cleveland: We're innocent.
- Ximinez: Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
-
- Superimposed caption: 'DIABOLICAL LAUGHTER'
-
- Biggles: We'll soon change your mind about that!
-
- Superimposed caption: 'DIABOLICAL ACTING'
-
- Ximinez: Fear, surprise, and a most ruthless-- controls himself with a
- supreme effort Ooooh! Now, Cardinal -- the rack!
-
- Biggles produces a plastic-coated dish-drying rack. Ximinez looks at it and
- clenches his teeth in an effort not to lose control. He hums heavily to cover
- his anger
-
- Ximinez: You....Right! Tie her down.
-
- Fang and Biggles make a pathetic attempt to tie her on to the drying rack
-
- Ximinez: Right! How do you plead?
- Cleveland: Innocent.
- Ximinez: Ha! Right! Cardinal, give the rack (oh dear) give the rack a turn.
-
- Biggles stands their awkwardly and shrugs his shoulders
-
- Biggles: I....
- Ximinez: gritting his teeth I *know*, I know you can't. I didn't want to say
- anything. I just wanted to try and ignore your crass mistake.
- Biggles: I...
- Ximinez: It makes it all seem so stupid.
- Biggles: Shall I...?
- Ximinez: No, just pretend for God's sake. Ha! Ha! Ha!
-
- Biggles turns an imaginary handle on the side of the dish-rack
-
- Cut to them torturing a dear old lady, Marjorie Wilde
-
- Ximinez: Now, old woman -- you are accused of heresy on three counts -- heresy
- by thought, heresy by word, heresy by deed, and heresy by action --
- *four* counts. Do you confess?
- Wilde: I don't understand what I'm accused of.
- Ximinez: Ha! Then we'll make you understand! Biggles! Fetch...THE CUSHIONS!
-
- Biggles holds out two ordinary modern household cushions
-
- Biggles: Here they are, lord.
- Ximinez: Now, old lady -- you have one last chance. Confess the heinous sin
- of heresy, reject the works of the ungodly -- *two* last chances. And
- you shall be free -- *three* last chances. You have three last
- chances, the nature of which I have divulged in my previous utterance.
- Wilde: I don't know what you're talking about.
- Ximinez: Right! If that's the way you want it -- Cardinal! Poke her with the
- soft cushions!
-
- Biggles carries out this rather pathetic torture
-
- Ximinez: Confess! Confess! Confess!
- Biggles: It doesn't seem to be hurting her, lord.
- Ximinez: Have you got all the stuffing up one end?
- Biggles: Yes, lord.
- Ximinez angrily hurling away the cushions Hm! She is made of harder
- stuff! Cardinal Fang! Fetch...THE COMFY CHAIR!
-
- Zoom into Fang's horrified face
-
- Fang terrified : The...Comfy Chair?
-
- Biggles pushes in a comfy chair -- a really plush one
-
- Ximinez: So you think you are strong because you can survive the soft
- cushions. Well, we shall see. Biggles! Put her in the Comfy Chair!
-
- They roughly push her into the Comfy Chair
-
- Ximinez with a cruel leer Now -- you will stay in the Comfy Chair until
- lunch time, with only a cup of coffee at eleven.
- aside, to Biggles Is that really all it is?
- Biggles: Yes, lord.
- Ximinez: I see. I suppose we make it worse by shouting a lot, do we?
- Confess, woman. Confess! Confess! Confess! Confess!
- Biggles: I confess!
- Ximinez: Not you!
-
