  3.     "After seeing a few of WhippedÆs shows around Berkeley 
  4. in æ92 and æ93, I was inspired to write this small epilogue for 
  5. them.  Their youth and potential reminded me of <i>Henry V.</i>"- 
  6. <b>William Shakespeare</b><p><p>

  10. <dd>        O for a Muse of fire, that would ascend<br>
  11.         The greatest heavens of invention,<br>
  12.         An arena for a stage, prodigies to play<br>
  13.         And Marshal amps to strike the swelling 
  14. scene!<br>
  15.         Then should the pissed-off Whipped, like 
  16. themselves,<br>
  17.         Assume the port of slackers; and at their 
  18. heels,<br>
  19.         LeashÆd in like hounds, should rage, howl, and 
  20. fury<br>
  21.         Crouch for employment.  But pardon, gentles 
  22. all,<br>
  23.         The dull, unworthy spirit that has dared<br>
  24.         On this paltry, petty, page to put forth<br>
  25.         So great an object.  Can this sheet hold<br>
  26.         The vasty fields of Berkeley? or may we cram<br> 
  27.         Within this wooden square the very banshees<br>
  28.         That did affright the air of whipped?<br>
  29.         O pardon! since a crooked phrase may<br>
  30.         Attest in little place of choruses;<br>
  31.         And let me, proud witness to this timbre,<br>
  32.         On your imaginary forces work.<br>
  33.         Suppose within the girdle of these lines<br>
  34.         Are now confined four might musicians,<br>
  35.         Whose power and uniqueness, the imposters<br>
  36.         Of the narrow bay can never part asunder.<br>
  37.         Piece out my imperfections with your 
  38. thoughts;<br>
  39.         Into a thousand complexities divide one 
  40. metaphor,<br>
  41.         To lend the music justice;<br>
  42.         Think, when I talk of guitars, that you feel 
  43. them<br>
  44.         Slashing and tearing at the receiving ear;<br>
  45.         For tisÆ your thoughts that now must deck our 
  46. bass,<br>
  47.         That carries listeners here and there;<br>
  48.         Crushing the accomplishments of oÆer played 
  49. punk/funk<br>
  50.         Into a past nightmare.  For the which 
  51. supply,<br>
  52.         Admit me Chorus to this juggernaught;<br>
  53.         Who prologue-like your humble patience pray,<br>
  54.         Gently to hear, and heartfully judge...<br>
