  12.      OVERVIEW:
  13.  
  14.           APB is a modem dialer and phone book. The program will work with
  15.      any modem as a modem configuration editing and re-initializing screen
  16.      is provided. The phone book is a handy way to store large amounts of
  17.      numbers and dial them individually or in succession. The phone book
  18.      also allows for manual entry of phone numbers to dial, it iconifies
  19.      yet allows you to control the modem while in shrunk mode as well as
  20.      monitoring the modem for any incoming signals (like a ring) when you
  21.      are not dialing a number. The Concert Dial feature re-dials a busy
  22.      number as fast as your modem allows, continuing to re-dial until a
  23.      busy signal is no longer recieved. APB also has a limited format
  24.      print-out capability to give you a paper printout of your phone
  25.      book.

  30.      The Amiga Phone Book is Shareware. You may upload this software to
  31.      any bulletin board or electronic service provided:

  33.     1. That service does not claim copyright on uploaded software or 
  34.      does not charge above it's normal access rates for download of this
  35.      software.

  37.      2. No organization may charge more than handling costs for this 
  38.      software with out the express written permission of the author.

  40.      3. All files included in this archive remain intact inside the
  41.      archive, including this licensing notification.

  43.      The Amiga Phone Book is Shareware. This means that you may try the
  44.      software first and see if you like it or use it frequently. If you
  45.      do, shareware asks you to send $20.00 (Twenty dollars) as a

  51.      Doing so will give you a warm feeling inside, knowing you have
  52.      helped support a starving Amiga developer. Also I plan on 
  53.      releasing more titles in the future as shareware and as a 
  54.      registered owner you will be entitled to two things:

  56.      1. A $5.00 rebate in the form of paying $5.00 less shareware fee's 
  57.      on the next software program released (on a $10.00 piece this means
  58.      half off) and 
  59.  
  60.      2. Notification of upgrade availability or new title releases as 
  61.      they occur.

  63.      If you enclose an extra $5.00 (twenty five dollars total) I will
  64.      send you the latest version of APB that has a much smaller information
  65.      window. This will cut almost 20k from the size of the program, for all
  66.      you memory concerned people out there. Please specify that this is
  67.      what you wish.

  70.      Why a Dialer???
  71.  
  72.           I have always been interested in telecommunications and terminal
  73.      programs for using a modem. I wanted to teach myself how to access the
  74.      serial port and hence the modem on the Amiga. Enter a friend who was
  75.      asking for a phone book program and after roughly 5 months (full time
  76.      at college interupts this period), the Amiga Phone Book (APB for short)
  77.      was born. I never thought I would use a phone book like this personally
  78.      but after entering about 60 of my most often used numbers it has become
  79.      amazingly easy to use APB to make my calls. I have even found myself 
  80.      firing up the Amiga to make a phone call because it was easier than 
  81.      trying to look up the number. With the shrink mode I just allow APB to 
  82.      start up in my startup-sequence. APB detaches as well so it doesn't 
  83.      interfere with your other Amiga startup operations. A WorkBench Icon
  84.      is included for those who prefer point and click.
  85.  
  86.      APB is also sort of a study in different methods of entering data into
  87.      the Amiga and in manipulating that data. While it is not my first
  88.      Amiga project it is one of my favorites. 2 sections of instructions
  89.      are provided, a Quick Start Guide for those who don't like to read
  90.      documentation files and a Complete Documentation file that describes
  91.      all the features of APB including command line arguements, keyboard
  92.      shortcuts and different techniques for using APB.

  94.      Anyways, take a look at the Amiga Phone Book. A lot of time and effort 
  95.      went into making it a nice utility. Please if you use APB, or if
  96.      Concert Dial helps you win a contest on the radio, or get some great
  97.      seats at a concert or gets you into the financial aide line at school
  98.      consider sending in the shareware registration fee I ask for. It's
  99.      only twenty bucks and it will let me know that yes there are people
  100.      out there who are interested in low cost functional utilities for
  101.      your Amiga. If you have an idea for a 'killer' utility you'd really
  102.      like to have send it along as well, you never know what might be the
  103.      'next project'.
