  7.       LastHope was written to help those who  perhaps  where  victims of the
  8.     mistake of deleting files that were not supposed to be.
  9.       There are  several programs, either  commercial or  public domain, but
  10.     I don't any that can retrieve files which its headers  had been wiped or
  11.     just unreadable.
  12.       For now, this  program  can only  preform  this task on standard  file
  13.     system (SFS) diskettes, which means that the program  can do nothing for
  14.     fast file system (FFS) diskettes.
  15.       This  program  hould  be  perhaps the last thing you should try before
  16.     you suicide.  That's why I named it "LastHope".  If you want to repair a
  17.     disk with  damaged  sectors,  I suggest you try programs  like "FixDisk"
  18.     before. I strongly discourage  the use of "Disk-Doctor" which comes with
  19.     the workbench  disk (ignore system  requesters that tell you to use it),
  20.     because  it tries to recover  files to the same disk, overwriting intact
  21.     and not  deleted  files with  files  with the  same name  that had  been
  22.     deleted. If you want to recover files from a device that uses FFS, say a
  23.     Hard-Disk  for instance, try  perhaps  "QuarterBack Tools", but remember
  24.     that this program is not public domain.
  25.       One important  thing, is that you  should  always  keep a  backup copy
  26.     of your work or  programs, which  almost of times saves you the grief of
  27.     losing your  dear bytes. If you are an  Hard-Disk  user, I perhaps would
  28.     advise you to use  "SuperBack". For floppy disks, any disk  copy program
  29.     would do.

  31.       - Small print
  32.     
  33.       Every  time you use this  program to  save your  skin, think about the
  34.     programmer  because he  had already thought  about you, and feel free to
  35.     contribute  just a small sum which  the shareware fee and  write to make
  36.     any improvement suggestions or tell about any noticed bugs.

  38.       - How it moves
  39.     
  40.       Whatever  you do, do  nothing  that  you  haven't  been  told to. Just
  41.     follow  the  messages. This  program won't make you disk worse as it is.
  42.       For starters, click over the start diagnostic gadget,  and then select
  43.     the drive where your disk will be placed and insert it.
  44.       The program  will then bitmap your  disk. If click over the any of the
  45.     colored  boxes that  will  appear, the program  will display  a relevant
  46.     message of the correspondent disk sector.
  47.       As soon as the  disk scan  terminates,  the  program  will display all
  48.     fully  recoverable  files with or without header, in a requester for you
  49.     to select. The program cannot recover partially destroyed files. If your
  50.     disk has been infected by Lamer Exterminator  virus, files may have been
  51.     randomly  destroyed  (refer to "VirusX" documentation), and the infected
  52.     sectors will be marked with a red box.  If a partially destroyed file is
  53.     any good  to you, "Fix Disk" or "DiskX" may  help.  The main function of
  54.     this program is to recover headerless files even it can do more.
  55.       If  then  you  have  selected  any file  to recover,  you will be then
  56.     prompted with yet another requester for you to specify a directory where
  57.     to recover  the selected  files. Don't  choose a  directory that will be
  58.     placed in  the very same  drive where your  disk has been inserted. That
  59.     drive will  be marked unreadable,  while the recovery is being done. Use
  60.     RAM DISK if you don't have another drive.

  62.       Whenever this program  recovers  your missing file, remember to reward
  63.     the programmer that thought about you.
