- For Windows 95** Users
- ----------------------
- This release of BIOS includes Plug and Play resource information for the
- IRDA infrared port. Windows 95 does not currently load any drivers for
- this port when it is recognized, so you may encounter problems running
- Puma Tranxit or other Windows based IR applications. To correct this
- problem perform the following steps:
-
- 1. Boot up the system to Windows 95 desktop.
-
- 2. Go to the Device Manager.
- Go to the Ports. "REMOVE" all COM Ports.
- (Do NOT reboot).
-
- 3. Go to MSDOS prompt. Go to C:\WINDOWS\INF directory.
- Type EDIT MSPORTS.INF and press ENTER.
- Go to "STD" section of this file.
- Change the following statement:
-
- %*PNP0510.DeviceDesc% = NoDrv, *PNP0510 ; IRDA Communications port
-
- TO:
-
- %*PNP0510.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, *PNP0510; IRDA Communications port
-
- 4. Save the changes and reboot the machine.
-
- 5. Verify that the "Ports" in the Device Manager show the following:
- -- Communications Port (COM1)
- -- ECP Printer Port (LPT1)
- -- Generic IRDA Compatible Device (COM2).
