  6. This procedure is for the Mwave version 2.22 drivers on the IBM Thinkpad
  7. 755CE/CD/CsE/CV/CDV/CX and 760C/CD/E/ED.  It is designed to work as is for
  8. PC DOS 5.02, 6.1, 6.3, and 7.0 and MS Windows 3.1/3.11.

  10. The files listed in this procedure are available from the IBM PC Company BBS at

  14. The Thinkpad should be placed on AC power and logged off of any network
  15. connections prior to beginning the Mwave installation.  Failure to do so can
  16. cause various inconsistencies in the Mwave installation which will prevent
  17. Mwave from functioning normally.  After successful installation, the Thinkpad
  18. can be run as it was before.

  20. Obtain the files from IBM as shown in the following table.  Place the files
  21. into a temporary directory, run each and follow the instructions to create the
  22. diskettes as listed.

  76. Install the Thinkpad Utilities by running the INSTALLW program from either the
  77. Utility diskette 1 v3.32 (755 Series) or the Utility Disk Win3.1/Win95
  78. (760 Series). Follow the instructions for installation.

  83. Start Windows and run the SETUP program on the Thinkpad Mwave for Windows
  84. Disk 1. Follow the instructions and install both disks.  Restart Windows for
  85. the changes to take effect.

  87. Note: Native DOS support is now installed through the Windows installation
  88.       beginning with this version of Mwave.  DOS programs which require
  89.       sound/modem support can also be run from within Windows as either a
  90.       windowed or a full screen session.

  112. applications.  It is not necessary if only Windows will be used on the system.

  115. Note: If an application alters the AUTOEXEC.BAT in any manner, make sure that
  116.       these lines are still present.  Mwave will not function properly without
  117.       them.

  119. For MIDI support, run the SETUP program on the Thinkpad Mwave Windows MIDI
  120. Support Disk.  When the program asks for 'Disk 2', insert Thinkpad MIDI
  121. Samples Disk 1.  For 'Disk 3' use MIDI Samples Disk 2 and so on through all
  122. five MIDI samples diskettes.

  125. ***  Miscellaneous Application Considerations ***
  126.  
  127. For communications programs that do not have a specific selection for the
  128. Mwave modem, choose a Hayes compatible.
  129.  
  130. For the modem to function with telecommunications/fax programs, it must be
  131. initialized with the Mwave Modem icon in the Mwave folder.  The modem will
  132. show up in the Task List and can be switched to if necessary.

  134. For CD audio on the 755CD/CDV and 760CD to function, go into the Mwave Audio
  135. Mixer in the Mwave Thinkpad folder and select CD as the input source.
  136.  
  137. If Audio is playing and an incoming telephone signal is detected by the modem,
  138. then the Mwave Manager will terminate the Audio automatically to free up the
  139. the necessary Mwave resources for the Discriminator/Modem.  Audio should resume
  140. after the Modem is through with its process (telephone, FAX, or Modem).

  142. It is possible to use a PCMCIA modem and the DSP modem at the same time
  143. providing that there is an available interrupt for the modem or if neither the
  144. Serial port nor the Infrared are enabled.  Use the Thinkpad Features to
  145. disable Infrared and Serial support.
