- 1. Introduction.
-
- This program was developed to enable me, with the use of only two
- commands, to review the contents of any disk containing scores by
- playing all of them. Since I became fed up with typing play <file>
- for every score, I devised this little, no thrills and no frills,
- program to do it for me by reading the scores directory and making
- a parameter file to be used by Play.
-
- Features:
-
- - Fully compatible with both Workbench V1.2 and V1.3.
- - Works with all Amigas.
- - Supports most AmigaDos devices.
- - Play an entire disk of songs with only two simple commands.
- - Generated parameter file may be edited using any text editor.
- - The built-in Help function. Just type MakePlay ?.
-
- 2. Usage
-
- Usage : MakePlay <SCORES> <INSTR>
-
- How to use this program? Well it is fairly simple, all you have to
- input are, the path of the Scores you want to play and the path of
- the Instruments dir you want the program to use. If you don't want
- to play all the scores, you can use a text editor, like ED or TXEd
- to edit the parameter file. This file can be found on RAM: device.
- It is called: PlayFile.bat.
-
- How do you review a disk?
-
- 1. Make sure both MakePlay and Mark Riley's 'Play' program are in
- the C: directory of the disk you booted with.
- 2. Check if the disk to be reviewed contains instruments. if not
- use an other instruments directory.
- 3. Run MakePlay with the appropriate arguments.
- 4. After MakePlay has finished, you have a list of all the scores
- contained in the parameter file. (It might be a good idea to
- redirect MakePlay's screen output to your printer, using the >
- redirection command.) Now you can start Play, by typing either
- 'Play P=RAM:PlayFile.bat' or 'Play * P=RAM:PlayFile.bat'if you
- want to run Play in the background.
-
- To clarify this I will give some examples.
-
- Scores dir : DF0:Scores
- Instrum. dir : DF1:Instruments
-
- Command line : MakePlay DF0:Scores DF1:Instruments
- MakePlay * DF0:Scores DF1:Instruments
-
- Scores dir : DH0:Sonix/Scores
- Instrum. dir : DF1:My Files/Instr
-
- Command line : MakePlay DH0:Sonix/Scores "DF1:My Files/Instr"
- MakePlay * DH0:Sonix/Scores "DF1:My Files/Instr"
-
- Requirements:
-
- - Both the Scores and the Instruments directory must exist. There
- is a check on this an if either does not exist, the program will
- issue a message and quit.
-
- - Since this program writes the parameter file to RAM:, make sure
- that that device can be accessed by the program.
-
- The program should support all regular Amiga devices. I tested it
- with DF0: to DF2:, VD0:, VDK:, RAM:, CARD: and DH0: to DH2:. It is
- compatible with both WorkBench 1.2 and 1.3. I haven not tested it
- with 1.1 though.

- No phone, not since some guy woke me at 04:00 AM ( My local time,
- not his!). So, if you feel it is that urgent to call me you won't
- mind taking the trouble of finding out my phonenumber. But PLEASE!
- check the time-differences. I can get pretty uncooperative when
- called out of bed in the middle of the night!
