  2.              THE PENNINE AMIGA CLUB (GB) International User Group

  5.  The Club was formed in 1989 by three friends Who had been interested in all
  6.  
  7.  kinds of Computers for quite some time.Since then,one of the Founder Members
  8.  
  9.  has found other interests and has left the Club,but the other two are still
  10.  
  11.  as keen as ever.
  12.  
  13.      The original idea was to form a User Group to give help,advice and if
  14.  
  15.  needed,moral support,and of course,to promote interest in all models of the
  16.  
  17.  Amiga range.for a few months,things were very slow,in the first 10 months
  18.  
  19.  We only got 53 Members,and most of these were from the Keighley Area,then
  20.  
  21.  things really started to happen,We had enquiries from all over the place,
  22.  
  23.  not just to join but also for help with this problem or that problem so We
  24.  
  25.  decide that We had better sort out Who was going to do What.
  26.  
  27.      Over the next 2+ years,the Club has gone from strength to strength,the
  28.  
  29.  Membership has now reached over 800,and is still growing.We have Members in
  30.  
  31.  Japan,Bahrain,Malaysia,all over Europe,all over the British Isles,and on to
  32.  
  33.  Canada and America,We will in fact be opening a branch in Texas in july or
  34.  
  35.  august this year.The Club is affiliated to B.A.C.C.and is regarded as one
  36.  
  37.  of the more serious User Groups,and this gives Us some "Clout" with various
  38.  
  39.  Suppliers Etc.
  40.  
  41.      Because of the size and the area covered,We can not have meetings of
  42.  
  43.  Members in one place so it was decided that the Club should be run locally
  44.  
  45.  by Area Co-ordinators,these A/Cords could be the Area's contact with "Head
  46.  
  47.  Office" and could also run Their local Pennine Group in any way that the
  48.  
  49.  Local Members wanted.This system has been working now for over two years,
  50.  
  51.  and seems to be O.K.but,of course,We are always open to ideas from anyone
  52.  
  53.  for anything new which would improve the Club or the services We offer.
