  8.     With the advent of AMOS FontX, creating fonts for your AMOS programs
  9.     has never been so easy.  Fully compatable with ALL Amigas and ALL
  10.     versions of AMOS Professional, FontX really is THE essential
  11.     AMOS utility. FontX is an enhanced  version of the AMOS Professional
  12.     Font8*8editor, with many more features, a smoother user interface, and
  13.     directories full to the brim of ready-made fonts.

  15.     No matter how many fonts you may have amassed, there will always be a
  16.     time when you need to create your own character sets, or edit existing
  17.     fonts into something a little more personalised.  There are several
  18.     areas where Font-X Professional could be used to good advantage:-
  19.  
  20.     Language Tutors/Foreign dictionaries - Foreign alphabets often contain
  21.                                            symbols not used in standard
  22.                                            Amiga fonts.  You could easily
  23.                                            create them with Font-X.
  24.  
  25.     Easier Reading - The AMOS default font could be edited to customise
  26.                      AMOS even further!
  27.  
  28.     Font-X Professional is also extremely fun to use.

  31.     Climb Aboard

  34.     LOAD
  35.  
  36.     This loads a previously designed font into the program for editing.
  37.     On the FontX disk you will find a directory containing a number of
  38.     previously designed fonts.  Don't be afraid to load them in and
  39.     experiment.

  41.     You could even load in the Default Font from your AMOS Program disk.
  42.     That way, when you reboot AMOS, the Editor will automatically use your
  43.     font.  Remember never to work from your original AMOS disk, always use
  44.     a backup!

  46.     Upon loading your choice of font, the individual characters are
  47.     displayed on the left-hand side of the screen.  Any of these characters
  48.     can be altered simply by selecting them with the left mouse button.
  49.     When you have hilighted a character, click once on the CUT icon, and
  50.     its enlarged image can be altered in the editing window at the
  51.     right-hand side of the screen.

  53.     To edit the character, click on any of the enlarged squares in the
  54.     editing window.  Don't be afraid to experiment, as the original
  55.     character will remain intact unless you place a new character over the
  56.     old one by clicking once on the PASTE icon.  So that you can see how
  57.     your design will look when finished, there is a small window below the
  58.     editing window which displays a real sized version of the character.

  60.     CUT/PASTE
  61.  
  62.     Having loaded a font into the program, simply click on the character
  63.     you wish to alter and the character should become hilighted.  Then it
  64.     is simply a case of clicking on the CUT icon, and the enlarged
  65.     character should appear in the editing window.  If not, then try again.
  66.     PUT is the exact opposite to CUT.  Having designed your character,
  67.     click on whichever character you would like to be replaced and then
  68.     click on PASTE.  Your character should now form part of the character
  69.     set.

  71.     CLEAR

  73.     The CLEAR icon above the character set clears the whole set from both
  74.     the screen and the memory.  The CLEAR icon below the editing window
  75.     clears the editing window of any characters.  It has no effect on the
  76.     character set unless  PASTE is chosen.

  80.     Fill simply fills the editing window with a character 8 pixels by 8
  81.     pixels.

  83.     INVERT

  85.     This inverts all of the pixels on the currently selected character.

  87.     FLIP X

  89.     This icon mirrors a character on the X axis.

  95.     This icon mirrors a character on the Y axis.
