  2. The boot: prompt waits ten seconds for you to type advanced startup options.
  3. If you don't type anything, the computer continues starting up normally: It
  4. uses the kernel and configuration files on the startup device, which it also
  5. uses as the root device.  Advanced startup options use the following syntax:

  7.     <<device>kernel> <arguments>
  8.  
  9. For example, to start up from:
  10.   the first SCSI device, type: sd()mach_kernel
  11.   the b partition of the second IDE disk, type: hd(1,b)mach_kernel
  12.   the floppy disk but use the SCSI disk as the root device, type:
  13.     fd()mach_kernel rootdev=sd0a
  14.  
  15. If the computer won't start up properly, you may be able to start it up using
  16. the drivers you used to install OPENSTEP. Type: config=Default
  17.  
  18. To continue starting up using standard options, press Return.
