Transcription: In order for electricity to flow, there must be a complete circuit. A complete circuit is an unbroken path in a conductor from the positive to the negative side of the battery or whatever source of electricity you have. Right now in this circuit, there is no complete unbroken path because the switch is open. However, if I close the switch, then there is an unbroken path from the positive side of the battery to the negative side of the battery. As a result, electricity can flow and the light bulb will light. Please note that what we're showing here is the flow of conventional current.
