- UPDATE Version 1.1 - Fast Date Updater Copyright 1988, L. Gusmano
-
- Usage: UPDATE [number]
-
- Where: Number is a positive, valid integer value (1 to 32767)
- representing the number of days the current system date
- will be updated.
-
- Notes: DOS usually keeps track of the passing of midnight, and
- updates the system (clock) date to reflect a new day.
- Sometimes, due to variations in clock drivers and BIOS chips,
- this event can be missed by DOS. This problem is
- particularly prevalent on BBS and remote HOST systems.
-
- The UPDATE utility is useful in situations where the system
- date has failed to change after midnight. Rather than
- entering the complete date under DOS, all that's needed is
- the number of days that have elapsed without a system update
- occurring. This utility simulates the passing of midnight,
- and forces a DOS date call for each day that has been missed.
- Obviously, the loop created will consume more time with large
- numbers, so when the number of days exceeds a month, it might
- be more efficient to use the DOS date command instead.
