- Configer is a program that will help you manage your different

- in your root directory of your boot disk, then you can use this
- program to easily view and install the config file that you want
- to boot from.

-
- -INSTALLATION-
-
- To use Configer, copy it to any directory that is listed in your
- PATH statement. To execute the command just type CONFIGER, in
- this version there are no command line arguments.
-
- -ASSUMPTIONS-
-
- This version of Configer makes several assumptions about your
- system. If you have your system configured like most users that
- have AT type computers then you should be able to use this
- program without any problem. If you do not then you are not out
- of luck, but you will be out 15 bucks to get a registered copy
- that does not make this assumptions.
-
- Here they are:
-
- o The config files must be named CONFIG.xxx
- You supply the xxx's.
- o All config files must reside in the root directory of
- drive C:.
-
- -OPERATION-
-
- After typing configer you will see a window that has all the
- config files found on your system. Use the arrow keys to select
- the config file that you wish to operate on. Once the file has
- been highlighted you may do one of two things.
-
- Key commands:
-
- o F1 will copy the file selected to CONFIG.SYS. This is
- the main use for configer.
- o ENTER will open a second window and display the
- contents of the config file selected. Press Escape
- after you have studied the file and decided if this is
- the one you wish to copy.
- o Escape will exit the program.
-
- Because you copy the config.sys file from another one you should
- make a default config file. The current config.sys file will be
- a copy of one of the others. For instance you could have:
- config.sys
- config.max
- config.net
- config.def
-
- When config.def is the config file you want to be loaded then
- you would select config.def and press F1. After exiting the
- program, reboot the computer and the new config.sys will be
- loaded.
