- Purpose: Windows Recorder Macro brings the function of DOS's
- PrintScrn to Windows with a simple macro.
-
- Note: This document is identical to the document PRINTSCR.
- DOC. It is included here to point you to that
- document instead.
-
- Remarks: For the macro to work, you must assign a keyboard
- shortcut to switch to Program Manager. To make
- Ctrl-Esc bring up Program Manager instead of the
- Task List, for example, open SYSTEM.INI in SysEdit
- or a text editor and add this line to the [Boot]
- section:
-
- TASKMAN.EXE=PROGMAN.EXE
-
- Save your changes and then restart Windows.
-
- Start by verifying the Options Menu's Control-Break
- Checking, Shortcut Keys, and Minimize on Use items
- are checked.
-
- To use the macro, Recorder must be running in the
- background with PRINTSCR.REC loaded. Press the
- macro's shortcut keyboard shortcut (you'll need to
- assign a shortcut key or open the .REC file with
- Recorder to see what key is assigned) at any time
- to print the current screen. Then, if you want to
- save the image, choose Filef, Save from Paintbrush.
- Otherwise you can exit Paintbrush without saving.
- Note: Avoid leaving unsaved images open in Paint-
- brush when you run PRINTSCR because the macro won't
- run if Paintbrush prompts you to save a file.
-
- To make Recorder launch automatically, place a copy
- of its icon in the StartUp program group. Run
- Recorder from this icon and open PRINTSCR.REC. Use
- File Properties to make Recorder minimize on launch.
